The Gallant-type medical shaving razor is designed for quick and safe removal of hair from the skin before medical procedures, applying AED electrodes or performing resuscitation.

The razor has a protective cover that increases safety during transport and storage. The ergonomic plastic handle provides a secure grip even when wearing gloves, which matters in a stressful situation.

Thick chest hair can prevent defibrillator electrodes from sticking properly, and poor contact between the electrodes and the skin reduces the effectiveness of the analysis and the shock. That is why a medical shaving razor is a standard part of AED rescue kits. Thanks to its compact size, it will fit in any defibrillator bag and first aid kit.

The Gallant-type medical is an inexpensive addition to your AED equipment. You will find other accessories in the category AED defibrillator accessories.

Why keep a medical shaving razor with a defibrillator?

AED electrodes must stick well to the skin. When the chest is very hairy, quickly shaving the electrode sites allows the defibrillator to analyse the heart rhythm correctly.

Preparing the chest for an AED

Expose the chest and, if it is wet, dry it. If there is thick hair, quickly shave the electrode sites, but do not delay defibrillation longer than necessary. Apply the electrodes as shown on the package and follow the device's voice prompts, without interrupting compressions unnecessarily.

On our courses we practise using an AED on training defibrillators.
