TRAUMA KIT travel first aid kit is the Travel module (L) in a light blue pouch measuring 13 x 22 x 9 cm (height x width x depth) and weighing 0.60 kg. The kit combines basic first aid supplies with small items useful on the road: from a sewing kit to an eye mask and ear plugs.

The contents are divided into packs. First Aid consists of 2 blister plasters in size M, 2 saline units of 5 ml, a protective mask, 3 disinfectant wipes 70%, an NRC foil blanket (thermal blanket), 10 plasters with a dressing 1.9 x 7.6 cm and 5 Alcohol Prep swabs. In the Survival pack you will find, among other things, water purification tablets, a candle, a lighter, 2 cable ties, a sewing kit with a needle case, a pair of hand warmers, Silvertape repair tape, a mini COB head torch and a rescue whistle.

The remaining packs are Protection (bite-soothing gel, SPF25 protective cream, protective lip balm, tick removers in an envelope, 15 ml mosquito spray), Good night (eye mask, ear plugs, condom), Personal hygiene (panty liner, sanitary pad, tampon) and Cosmetics (shampoo, shower gel, cosmetic set, compressed towel). In addition, inside there are a sick bag, wet wipes and a toothbrush with toothpaste. TRAUMA KIT travel first aid kit holds the First Aid, Survival, Protection, Good night, Personal hygiene and Cosmetics packs in a single pouch.

Why is the travel first aid kit TRAUMA KIT more than a set of plasters?

Besides first aid supplies, the kit contains items that come in handy when travel plans change: an unexpected overnight stay, a torn-off button or a forgotten item of luggage. The head torch leaves your hands free, and the rescue whistle lets you draw attention to yourself. The Personal hygiene and Cosmetics packs reduce the need to buy small items on the road.

The Protection pack is useful on trips where you are exposed to insects. The bite-soothing gel, the 15 ml mosquito spray and the tick removers in an envelope fit in the same pouch, while the SPF25 cream and protective lip balm protect your skin and lips. You can read more about these arachnids in the article Ticks – how to protect yourself? The travel first aid kit TRAUMA KIT includes a head torch, a rescue whistle, hand warmers and an NRC foil blanket for unexpected situations on the road.

Rules for using the kit and first aid while travelling

The contents of the First Aid pack are intended for minor injuries. In an incident, first make sure that you and the casualty are safe, and then call for help on 999 or 112. Rinse a minor wound with saline (the kit contains 2 units of 5 ml) or clean water and cover it with a plaster with a dressing. The Alcohol Prep swab is used for disinfection, so do not apply it inside the wound.

The kit does not contain a tourniquet or a pressure dressing. In the case of massive bleeding, call 999 or 112 and immediately apply direct pressure to the wound; a bystander taking action can decide whether the casualty survives. How to do this is described in the article Chapter II – Massive bleeding – first aid.
