HOPETHERM oesophageal-rectal probe<\/strong> (code HT-SPR-1) is a single-use probe with a temperature sensor, intended for routine monitoring of a patient's core temperature to diagnose hypothermia. It is designed for use in adults and works with the HOPETHERM thermometer.<\/p>\n

The probe is designed to be inserted through the oesophagus, nasopharynx or rectum. The sensor is fully enclosed and insulated, and the long cable keeps the connector away from the patient. Smooth, rounded tips allow gentle insertion of the probe.<\/p>\n

The measurement site depends on the patient's condition. A probe placed in the lower third of the oesophagus is an invasive measurement, possible only when the patient is unconscious and intubated. Measurement in the rectum is also invasive and often embarrassing for conscious patients. The probe is single-use, so it is not reused for another measurement after use.<\/p>\n
