The Trainee knows straight away what to improve, and the instructor sees the progress of the whole group.

The “casualty’s” age. CPR techniques differ for adults, children and infants. If you train parents, teachers or carers, you will need child and infant manikins – most conveniently in a set.

Number of Trainees and mobility. With large groups, it is better to have several lighter manikins than one advanced one. Manikins in bags are easy to take to off-site training.

Running costs. Check how much disposable lungs, faces and other parts cost – you will find them in the category manikin accessories.

CPR training manikins in practice

On our courses we use the manikins we sell, so we will gladly advise what will work in your school, company or training centre. Exercises on a manikin prepare you for a real situation in which action taken by a bystander can decide whether the casualty survives. We describe compression and breathing technique in the articles Basic life support – CPR and Mouth-to-mouth in practice.

How to look after manikins?

CPR training manikins last for years if they are well looked after. After every session, disinfect the face and mouth according to the manufacturer’s instructions, replace disposable lungs or breathing bags, and check that the chest moves smoothly. Store manikins in bags, away from sunlight and heat sources. When the skin, spring or another part wears out, you do not need to buy a new manikin – a spare part is enough.

When choosing CPR training manikins, also ask about the availability of parts and apps. You can check the availability of parts for a specific model in the manikin accessories category or with us. Prestan manikins also come in lightweight Ultralite versions and in sets of 4, 5 and 12.

When ordering several units for a school or training company, we will prepare a quote for the whole set, including consumables for the first year of sessions. If you are torn between brands, describe your training to us – the number of Trainees, age groups and frequency of sessions – and we will suggest what will work best.

First aid is simple – you just need to practise it.
