Qualified first aid – the order of actions
The R1 kit is intended for trained rescuers. Once the scene is secured, assess the casualty using the sequence: massive haemorrhage, airway, breathing, circulation, protection against hypothermia. Control bleeding, open the airway, give oxygen and immobilise injuries, and in cardiac arrest perform resuscitation and use an AED. Call or confirm the call for the emergency medical team on 112 – action taken by a bystander can decide whether the casualty survives. After the rescue, restock the items used. The PSP R1 2021 backpack with Kramer splints and spine board should be checked regularly for expiry dates.
