Saline solution 0.9% NaCl 10 ml (Polpharma) is a sterile 0.9% sodium chloride solution – neutral for the body, because its salt concentration matches body fluids. It is hypoallergenic and causes no irritation.
Saline is used to rinse wounds and burns, moisten dressings and swabs, and mechanically rinse the eyes and nasal cavity. The 10 ml plastic ampoule is small and light – for personal and car first aid kits.
It is a sterile, single-use medical device – once opened, do not keep leftovers for later use. The product is for external use only: do not use it for infusions or injections. Saline solution 0.9% NaCl 10 ml is worth having in your home and car first aid kit.
Why saline solution 0.9% NaCl 10 ml?
A sterile solution cleans a wound or eye without the risk of infection or irritation that water from an uncertain source carries. It is useful in every first aid kit – at home, in the car and at work. Saline solution 0.9% NaCl 10 ml is handy for rinsing an eye or a wound.
Other sizes are 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 10 ml in a syringe. You will find them all in the category saline.
How to use saline in first aid?
Rinse the wound with saline, pouring from the centre outwards to wash out dirt – do not rub it in deeper. Cool a burn first with clean, cool water for at least 10–20 minutes, and use the saline to moisten the dressing. Rinse the eye from the inner corner outwards, with the head tilted towards the eye being rinsed. Saline is for external use only – it must not be injected or given as an infusion. In case of a serious injury call 112 – action taken by a bystander can decide whether the casualty survives.
