Dressing a wound – step by step

Put on gloves, stop the bleeding with pressure and cover the wound with a sterile dressing or compress. The bandage should hold the dressing, not cut off circulation: check that the fingers below do not turn pale, numb or blue. For massive bleeding use a tourniquet and call 112 – action taken by a bystander can decide whether the casualty survives. The dressings are single-use.
