Primedic HeartSave myPAD electrodes are self-adhesive therapy electrodes for Primedic HeartSave myPAD series AED defibrillators. One set can be used on both adults and children, so there is no need to buy or swap separate paediatric electrodes.
When helping a child with a compatible AED, the "child" mode is selected with a button, and the device automatically adjusts the shock energy. For adults the default energy sequence is 150 J, 170 J and 200 J, and in child mode 50 J. Child mode applies to patients under 8 years of age or with a body weight of less than 25 kg.
The package contains 1 set of universal therapy electrodes. The electrode surface area is 117 ± 10 cm² for adults and 86 ± 10 cm² for children, and the cable is 1.40 m ± 0.2 m long. Primedic HeartSave myPAD electrodes have a cable length of 1.40 m ± 0.2 m.
Why do Primedic HeartSave myPAD electrodes have to be replaced after use?
The electrodes are single-use and intended for one patient. They are replaced after each use, after damage to the packaging and once the expiry date has passed. This keeps the AED defibrillator ready for the next use. Primedic HeartSave myPAD electrodes are placed according to the pictograms: anterior-lateral for adults, anterior-posterior for children.
The maximum period of use is 48 months, with an additional 12 months of storage possible, which gives up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. It is worth entering this date in the defibrillator's inspection schedule. The electrodes are intended for AEDs from the Primedic HeartSave myPAD series. You will find other accessories in the category AED defibrillator electrodes. Primedic HeartSave myPAD electrodes must be replaced after use, after damage to the packaging or once the expiry date has passed.
How do you use the electrodes during a rescue?
First make sure the scene is safe and call for help on 999 or 112. If a person is unconscious and not breathing normally, start chest compressions. When an AED is available, switch it on and follow its instructions. A bystander taking action can determine the casualty's survival.
On an adult the electrodes are placed in the anterior-lateral position, and on a child in the anterior-posterior position, which is what the pictograms on the electrodes are for. For a patient under 8 years of age or weighing less than 25 kg, select the "child" mode on the AED. The use of the device is described in Chapter VIII – Automated external defibrillator (AED).
