Laerdal Little Baby QCPR manikins are a set of four infant manikins for learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation and techniques for removing a foreign body from a child's airway. Sensors assess how well CPR is performed, and the Participant sees real-time feedback in QCPR technology and can correct mistakes.
The set is intended for use in, among other places, antenatal classes and for nursery staff training. It comes in two skin tones: Light (manikins with light skin) and Dark (the Dark version). The contents of the set are the same in both versions.
The set includes: 4 Little Baby QCPR manikins, 1 carry bag, 6 replaceable airways, 12 disinfectant wipes and 1 instruction manual. Laerdal Little Baby QCPR manikins let you practise both CPR and the management of a choking child.
Why choose Laerdal Little Baby QCPR manikins?
The torso of the manikin reproduces a child's build thanks to clearly marked anatomical landmarks. The chest rises on inhalation, and the moving limbs make the exercise more realistic. Realistic dimensions and weight make the manikin resemble a real child, which increases the engagement of those practising. An antenatal class or nursery can use Laerdal Little Baby QCPR manikins to train four people at the same time.
The manikin allows you to open the airway by tilting the head back and to practise managing choking: when the foreign body is removed correctly, the manikin cries, which surprises the Trainee. Data from the exercises can be viewed in the free app: the version for the course Participant is on Google Play (Android), and the instructor and Participant app is on the App Store (Apple). You will find other models in the category Laerdal manikins. With Laerdal Little Baby QCPR manikins, QCPR feedback shows the Participant what needs improving in their CPR.
How to practise on an infant manikin: order of actions and hygiene
It is worth starting the exercise as in a real situation: by assessing the safety of the scene and, if the casualty is unresponsive and not breathing normally, calling for help on 999 or 112. The manikin lets you practise opening the airway and CPR with monitoring by the QCPR sensors.
The set includes 6 replaceable airways and 12 disinfectant wipes, which are used to maintain hygiene during group practice. A carry bag is provided for transporting the manikins. The management of choking is covered in the article Choking – first aid.
