Why the IFAK IPMED tactical first aid kit?
The set brings together in one place wound dressings, means of stopping bleeding and a dressing for chest injuries. The interior of the first aid kit is divided into sections, which makes it easier to quickly reach the right item. You can read about how to choose equipment for a massive bleeding emergency in the article A first aid kit ready for massive bleeding.
How to use the contents of the IFAK first aid kit
First make sure the scene is safe, and call for help on 999 or 112. In the case of massive bleeding, apply direct pressure, and if bleeding from a limb is life-threatening, apply the CAT tourniquet. Immediately after applying it, notify the emergency services. Do not remove or loosen a tourniquet once it has been applied. Put on the gloves from the set before touching the wound.
The nasopharyngeal airway and the lubricant are specialist equipment that should be used by a trained person. The management of massive bleeding is covered in the article Massive haemorrhage – first aid.
