Mini IFAK tactical first aid kit is the Mini IPMED Individual Medical Pack in a Cordura-type pouch fitted with a MOLLE attachment system. The set weighs 380 g, measures 18 x 11 x 8 cm and is available in a red and a green version.
Inside you will find one of each: a CAT gen. 7 tourniquet, a W2 TRAUMA KIT type individual dressing, a BCS Chest Seal Vented TRAUMA KIT type vented dressing, 16.5 cm metal rescue shears, a size 7.5 nasopharyngeal airway, 5 g of lubricant, a permanent marker and a pair of size L nitrile gloves. The set also includes 2 pcs of 3 MOLLE System 125 BK mounting straps.
Both versions have identical contents and parameters, and differ only in the colour of the pouch. Mini IFAK tactical first aid kit combines a CAT gen. 7 tourniquet with a BCS vented dressing in a pouch weighing 380 g.
Why does the Mini IFAK tactical first aid kit have this content?
The set focuses on massive bleeding and chest injuries. The CAT gen. 7 tourniquet has an adjustable design, and alongside it the first aid kit contains a W2 TRAUMA KIT type individual dressing. The BCS vented dressing is made of hydrogel, which adheres to the casualty's body regardless of weather conditions, body hair or local dirt. The vent channels prevent air from flowing into the chest cavity during breathing and allow it to escape on exhalation. By choosing the Mini IFAK tactical first aid kit, you also get 16.5 cm metal rescue shears and size L nitrile gloves. Mini IFAK tactical first aid kit has MOLLE attachment, so it can be attached to equipment with compatible attachment points.
Everything fits in a pouch measuring 18 x 11 x 8 cm. The MOLLE system allows you to attach the first aid kit to equipment with compatible attachment points, and two mounting straps are already included. More about equipment for massive bleeding: A first aid kit ready for massive bleeding.
Rules for using the kit in massive bleeding
First assess the safety of the scene and your own safety, put on the nitrile gloves from the set and call for help on 999 or 112. In massive bleeding, apply direct pressure to the wound. When bleeding from a limb is life-threatening, apply a tourniquet, that is the CAT tourniquet from the set.
The size 7.5 nasopharyngeal airway is specialist equipment, so it should be used only by a trained person. Rules for dealing with bleeding are described in the article Chapter II – Massive bleeding – first aid.
