Rules for using the evacuation mattress

Before you start transporting, assess the hazard and make sure you are safe, and if life is at risk, call for help on 999 or 112. After placing the person on the mattress, close the hook-and-loop fasteners forming the "cocoon" and fasten the additional straps so that the person cannot shift. Transport is carried out by the straps at the head and foot ends, and the load must not exceed 210 kg. This is evacuation equipment, so it should be used by a person trained in its use.
