Primedic myPAD training defibrillator (HeartSave myPAD Trainer in the manufacturer's materials) is a semi-automatic AED trainer for practical first aid courses, CPR and defibrillator operation. It reproduces the operation of a semi-automatic AED: the Participant switches on the device, attaches the electrodes, waits for the heart rhythm analysis and presses the shock button when the device gives the appropriate prompt. The device is intended only for learning and simulation, and is not used to defibrillate casualties.
The trainer guides the person practising with voice prompts. It allows you to practise electrode placement on a manikin using magnetic pads, simulated rhythm analysis, a scenario with and without a shock advised, and performing CPR. The instructor controls the exercise with the remote control: selects the scenario, pauses and resumes the training, simulates electrode connection, sets shock advised or no shock advised, and adjusts the volume.
The versions differ in the display. The LCD version has a 4.3” colour display with graphic instructions alongside the voice prompts, while the version without a display guides the Participant by voice only. The set includes: AED trainer, rechargeable battery, remote control, carry bag, electrode cable, training electrodes, magnetic pads, power supply and user manual. Primedic myPAD training defibrillator reproduces the shock button as on a semi-automatic AED, which allows you to practise this step without risk.
Why choose the Primedic myPAD training defibrillator to learn AED operation?
Practising on a trainer lets you learn the sequence of actions before the Participant faces a real incident. The remote control gives the instructor control over the course of the exercise: they can pause it, simulate electrode connection or change the shock advice. The training electrodes are reusable, and the paediatric mode makes it possible to practise scenarios for a child. An instructor running a session with the Primedic myPAD training defibrillator can use the remote control to set shock advised or no shock advised. Primedic myPAD training defibrillator operates at temperatures from -10°C to 55°C, so it can be used in various training conditions.
The trainer is suitable for first aid courses, AED operation courses and occupational health and safety courses, for sessions in companies, public offices and schools, and for exercises for instructors, Rescuers and staff of public facilities. You will find other models in the AED trainers.
How to practise with an AED trainer in line with first aid principles
It is worth running the scenario in the same order as in a real incident: first a safety assessment, then calling for help on 999 or 112, starting CPR and switching on the AED. The electrodes are placed on the manikin using magnetic pads, and then the actions are carried out according to the device's prompts. Scenarios 1–3 work in fully automatic mode and 4–6 in semi-automatic mode, so choose them to suit the skills of the group before the session.
The shock is practised only on the trainer and manikin. You can read about how a real device works in the article Automated external defibrillator (AED).
