Philips FRx AED kit with bleeding module combines two types of equipment in one case: a defibrillator for sudden cardiac arrest and the TRAUMAKIT module for controlling severe and massive bleeding. The whole kit has a modular design.
The Philips HeartStart FRx is an AED defibrillator intended for use by people with varying levels of experience. It gives voice prompts, analyses the casualty's heart rhythm and tells you whether defibrillation is advised. Regular self-tests check the condition of the device, the battery and the connected pads, so there is no need for daily manual checks. The housing has an IP55 protection rating.
The Bleeding module contains a tourniquet and materials for packing and dressing heavily bleeding wounds. It can be used when a standard pressure dressing proves insufficient. The kit is intended for workplaces, public buildings, rescue units, event and sports organisers and for work in the field, that is, for companies, public offices and schools and similar places. Philips FRx AED kit with bleeding module keeps scissors, gloves and a protective mask to hand on the net in the lid of the case.
Why an Philips FRx AED kit with bleeding module in one case?
Sudden cardiac arrest and massive bleeding are two different situations in which time matters. This kit lets you respond to both without gathering equipment from several places. The layout of the equipment gives quick access to both the defibrillator and the rescue module. Philips FRx AED kit with bleeding module can be carried to the scene in a case with nylon latches and a pressure valve.
The polypropylene case has an IP67 protection rating, a pressure valve that equalises the pressure inside the housing and nylon latches for quick opening. Contoured foam limits movement of the defibrillator during transport, and the kit can also be carried to the scene where access is difficult. By choosing the Philips FRx AED kit with bleeding module, you get a defibrillator with voice prompts and equipment for dressing heavily bleeding wounds.
Using the kit in practice: AED and Bleeding module
Start by assessing the safety of the scene and calling for help on 999 or 112. If the casualty is unresponsive and not breathing normally, switch on the defibrillator and follow its voice prompts. We describe the device in more detail in the article Automated external defibrillator (AED).
For massive bleeding, apply direct pressure to the wound. When bleeding from a limb is life-threatening, use the tourniquet. The equipment in the module should be used by a person who knows how to use it. You can read about the procedure in the article Massive haemorrhage – first aid.
