Schiller FRED PA-1 defibrillator is a semi-automatic AED. It starts immediately when the cover is raised and guides you through the entire resuscitation procedure step by step. Voice prompts, illustrations and simple instructions help with this, and the interface works in three steps. The emergency number is printed on the cover, and the device is available in three language versions.

In the semi-automatic version, the shock is delivered after the user presses the appropriate button. The device recognises the connected electrodes, adult or child, and automatically adjusts the defibrillation energy. System pre-charging allows the shock to be delivered as quickly as necessary. The electrodes are pre-connected, which speeds up placing them on the chest, and paediatric electrodes can be stored easily.

It is dust- and water-resistant. Schiller FRED PA-1 defibrillator has a three-step interface and three language versions, which simplifies operation in a stressful situation.

Why does the Schiller FRED PA-1 defibrillator also support CPR?

The device does not stop working after the shock. It shows the correct hand position, sets a regular rhythm with the metronome and gives ongoing feedback on the resuscitation being performed. The course of CPR can be recorded, and the data is saved to the SD card.

Schiller FRED PA-1 defibrillator monitors its own readiness. The self-test detects an expired electrode date and a drop in battery capacity. If there are any irregularities, audible messages and LEDs signal that the device is not ready, its status and the actions to take, e.g. replacing the battery or electrodes. LEDs on the casing also show the status of the unit and data transmission. You will find other devices in the AED defibrillators.

How to use an AED in sudden cardiac arrest?

First make sure the scene is safe, and check whether the casualty is responsive and breathing. Call for help on 999 or 112 and start chest compressions. If someone is nearby, ask them to bring the AED. Once the cover is raised, the device starts by itself and you follow its voice prompts. A casualty's survival may depend on a bystander taking action.

In this model, the shock is delivered after pressing the button when the device recommends it. Before purchase and during use, pay attention to the readiness indicators and to the expiry dates of the electrodes and batteries. You can read more about the principles of working with the device in the article Chapter VIII – Automated external defibrillator (AED).
