Burns – what to do and when to reach for a hydrogel dressing
First, ensure your own safety and that of the casualty: move them away from the source of heat or corrosive substance and put on gloves. In the case of an extensive burn, or if the casualty's condition is a cause for concern, call for help on 999 or 112. Cool a thermal burn with clean water for at least 10 minutes, then apply the hydrogel or a dressing from the kit.
Choose the dressing according to the size and location of the burn: for fingers, for a limb, or one of the three sizes 100x100 mm, 200x200 mm and 600x400 mm. You will find the rules for calling for help in the article Chapter VI – Emergency number 112 and calling for help.
