The DefiSign LIFE semi-automatic AED defibrillator is a Schiller defibrillator designed for public access defibrillation – for companies, schools, public offices and sports facilities. The device analyses the heart rhythm itself and, when a shock is advised, asks the rescuer to press the button.
As soon as the lid is opened the defibrillator starts giving voice prompts, and the next steps are shown by illuminated pictograms on the housing. The device also warns when the electrodes are approaching their expiry date.
The housing has an IP55 rating. The DefiSign LIFE battery has a 6-year shelf life, and the adult electrodes for DefiSign LIFE – 2.5 years. For children, paediatric electrodes for DefiSign LIFEare used. The manufacturer gives a 10-year warranty. The DefiSign LIFE semi-automatic AED defibrillator should be kept in a visible, signposted place so that anyone can reach it quickly.
Why the DefiSign LIFE semi-automatic AED defibrillator?
The semi-automatic version lets the rescuer make sure nobody is touching the casualty before pressing the shock button – it is often chosen by workplaces with trained staff. The long 10-year warranty and 6-year battery make it easier to plan maintenance costs. The DefiSign LIFE semi-automatic AED defibrillator works well in companies where people are trained in first aid.
The version without a shock button is the DefiSign LIFE automatic. You will find other models in the category AED defibrillators and accessories.
Early defibrillation – a link in the chain of survival
The chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest depends on calling for help quickly, immediate resuscitation and the earliest possible defibrillation. Every minute of delay reduces this chance, which is why an AED must always be charged and ready. A bystander who starts compressions and brings the defibrillator buys time until the emergency medical team arrives.
We describe how the links of rescue fit together in the article How the chain of survival has saved thousands.
