ZOLL AED 3 AED defibrillator in its semi-automatic version is an AED with extensive resuscitation support. Real CPR Help uses a sensor in the electrodes: it measures the depth and rate of compressions on an adult in real time and, with a voice prompt and on-screen message, tells you to push harder or faster, confirming good compressions with the prompt “good compressions”. A metronome sets the rate for adults and children.
The colour LCD touchscreen (95 × 54 mm) shows graphics of the next steps, the time since switch-on, the time to the next analysis, compression depth and the number of shocks. When a shock is advised, the shock button flashes and the rescuer presses it. The universal CPR Uni-padz electrodes for ZOLL AED 3 are used for adults and children – child mode is switched on with a button, and the electrodes have a 5-year shelf life.
Built-in Wi-Fi connects the defibrillator to the PlusTrac system, which notifies you of a failed self-test, e.g. a depleted battery or expired electrodes; rescue data can also be transferred via USB. Self-tests are daily or weekly, and once a month the device performs a full-energy test. The ZOLL AED 3 battery lasts 5 years with weekly self-tests (3 years with daily tests or Wi-Fi reporting) and is enough for 140 shocks of 200 J. The housing has an IP55 rating and withstands a 1 m drop; for transport you can use the ZOLL AED 3 bag. ZOLL AED 3 AED defibrillator should be kept in a visible, signposted place so that anyone can reach it quickly.
Why the ZOLL AED 3 AED defibrillator?
Most rescues require above all good resuscitation, not just a shock. ZOLL AED 3 shows and tells you whether you are compressing deep and fast enough, which genuinely improves CPR quality in inexperienced rescuers. Remote Wi-Fi monitoring makes it easier to keep the device ready. ZOLL AED 3 AED defibrillator requires the electrodes to be replaced after each use.
An earlier model with Real CPR Help is the ZOLL AED Plus with CPR-D padz electrodes. You will find other models in the category AED defibrillators and accessories. The ZOLL AED 3 AED defibrillator works well in companies, schools and sports facilities.
Early defibrillation – a link in the chain of survival
The chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest depends on calling for help quickly, immediate resuscitation and the earliest possible defibrillation. Every minute of delay reduces this chance, which is why an AED must always be charged and ready. A bystander who starts compressions and brings the defibrillator buys time until the emergency medical team arrives.
We describe how the links of rescue fit together in the article How the chain of survival has saved thousands.
