Opaska uciskowa Xmetix TAK710 is an automatic tourniquet designed for rapid control of life-threatening limb haemorrhage. A motor-driven micro windlass compression mechanism with a worm gear tightens the strap around the limb by itself, so the user has fewer steps to perform. The tourniquet is activated with a single button, and the “+” and “–” buttons allow the pressure to be adjusted precisely.

The initial automatically generated pressure is in the range of 200–250 mmHg, and a value from 100 to 500 mmHg can be set manually. According to the specification, less than 30 seconds elapse from activation to occlusion. The LCD display shows the operating status and the time since the tourniquet was applied, and the system can maintain pressure for at least 6 hours.

The woven polyester strap measures 90 cm × 3.8 cm, and the whole device weighs 180 g and measures 24 × 92 × 55 mm. It is powered by 3 CR2 batteries. The tourniquet is intended for life-threatening limb haemorrhage, including in pre-hospital trauma care and during mass casualty incidents. According to the manufacturer, the tourniquet can also be used in combat conditions. Opaska uciskowa Xmetix TAK710 has a woven polyester strap measuring 90 cm × 3.8 cm with a tensile strength of >200 kg.

Why does the Xmetix TAK710 tourniquet reduce the number of steps?

In an emergency, every movement counts. The motor tightens the tourniquet automatically, the quick-release buckle allows it to be applied with one hand, and the buttons are designed for use with gloves on. A safety mechanism protects against accidental activation, and the manual release allows pressure to be removed immediately. Opaska uciskowa Xmetix TAK710 weighs 180 g, and the device measures 24 × 92 × 55 mm.

The device operates at temperatures from -30°C to +60°C and at altitudes up to 4572 m above sea level. The casing meets IP56 requirements in accordance with IEC 60529, meaning it protects against dust and jets of water, and the tourniquet has passed drop, mechanical shock and vibration tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810G. You can find other models in the category Tourniquets and clamps. The Xmetix TAK710 tourniquet has a casing with an IP56 protection rating in accordance with IEC 60529 and operates at temperatures from -30°C to +60°C.

Rules for using a tourniquet for limb bleeding

First ensure your own safety and the safety of the scene, then call for help on 999 or 112. In massive bleeding, direct pressure is applied, and a tourniquet is applied when the limb bleeding is life-threatening. This is specialist equipment, so it should be used by a trained person who knows how to operate it. After activation, watch the display and, if necessary, adjust the pressure with the “+” and “–” buttons.

The time since the tourniquet was applied, shown on the LCD display, is information worth passing on to the emergency services. The casualty's survival may depend on a bystander taking action, so it is worth knowing the procedures we have described in the article Chapter II – Massive bleeding – first aid.
