Why choose the evacuation backpack ETK?

evacuation backpack ETK brings together in one place equipment for caring for a casualty, food, hygiene and communication. The evacuation backpack ETK has handles on the top and sides, a zipped pocket on the back for documents and cash, and a strap for attaching to the extended handle of a suitcase.

The hook-and-loop panel and elastic mesh on the front provide space for tools that are meant to be close at hand, and the loops at the bottom allow a hip belt (available separately) to be attached. The Meal and Survival modules contain, among other items, a folding knife with a 50 mm blade, a tablet stove, a fire starter, water purification tablets and a head torch.

Massive bleeding and hypothermia – first aid principles

In the case of massive bleeding, first ensure your own safety and that of the casualty, call for help on 999 or 112 and apply direct pressure to the wound. When bleeding from a limb is life-threatening, a tourniquet is used: the CAT gen. 7 tourniquet is fastened with a hook-and-loop strap, and after several turns the windlass increases the pressure. The dressings, bandages and gloves from the modules are single-use.

A bystander taking action can decide whether the casualty survives – details are described in the article Massive haemorrhage – first aid.
