Why have TRAUMA KIT R-0 Fractures?
A fracture primarily requires immobilising the injured limb, and that takes splints, triangular bandages and bandages. In this module all of these items are in one place: two SPLINT splints 91cm long, two triangular bandages and six bandages of two types, elastic and knitted. The kit includes TRAUMA KIT R-0 Fractures two types of bandage: MATOPAT Universal elastic and MATOVIS knitted.
Sterile gauze compresses 10x10cm come in handy when a fracture is accompanied by a wound or bleeding. The kit is modular, so you can add it to other TRAUMA KIT R-0 modules and tailor it to your own needs.
What should you do in the case of a limb fracture?
First make sure the scene is safe and call for help on 999 or 112. Immobilise the injured limb in the position in which you found it, without attempting to realign it. If there is massive bleeding, stop it first with direct pressure using a sterile compress. Use a bandage for securing, and SPLINT splints and a triangular bandage for immobilisation. The instructions in the kit show how to use the individual items.
Before you reach for the kit, it helps to know the order of actions. We describe it in the article Emergency number 112 and calling for help.
