TRAUMA KIT accident first aid kit is a module for securing the scene of a road collision and giving first aid. You can use it on its own or as part of the larger TRAUMA KIT system. Everything fits in a compact pouch.
Two red-light electronic flares and a hi-vis vest are used to warn other Road Users. A safety hammer, work gloves, a head torch and a whistle are intended for intervention. The dressing section consists of two packs of 7.5 x 7.5 gauze compresses (3 pcs each), plasters with a dressing pad of 1.9 x 7.6 cm (10 pcs), four 70% disinfectant wipes and NRC foil (thermal blanket). The person giving help is protected by two pairs of disposable nitrile gloves in size L, two in size M and two three-layer protective masks. The kit also includes a poncho, a vomit bag, a collision statement form, a pen and instructions.
The module is available in two colour versions: orange and green. The contents of both versions are the same, and the green version has a discreet green colour. TRAUMA KIT accident first aid kit contains two electronic flares and a hi-vis vest to mark the scene of the incident.
Why choose the TRAUMA KIT accident first aid kit?
At the scene of a collision, the first task is your own safety and signalling the incident. That is why, alongside dressings, the module includes warning items: the electronic flares ensure high visibility by day and night, and the hi-vis vest makes the person giving help visible.
TRAUMA KIT accident first aid kit combines warning equipment, personal protection and basic dressing materials in one place. The TRAUMA KIT accident first aid kit therefore lets you move from securing the scene to first aid using a single pouch.
Rules for using the module at the scene of an accident
First assess the hazards and protect yourself: put on the hi-vis vest and signal the incident with the electronic flares, provided you can do so safely. Call for help on 999 or 112, and put on disposable gloves and a mask before any contact with blood. You can read more about recognising hazards in the article Chapter III – Recognising danger.
For massive bleeding, apply direct pressure to the wound using a gauze compress. If bleeding from a limb is life-threatening, a tourniquet is needed, which is not included in this module. A casualty's survival may depend on a bystander taking action, and the rules of conduct are described in Chapter II – Massive bleeding – first aid.
