TRAUMAKIT Mini fracture first aid kit (Z) is a compact first aid module in a green pouch measuring 15 x 14 x 7 cm (H x W x D) and weighing 0.245 kg. It is used to treat and immobilise a potentially injured limb, also when it is not known whether there is a fracture or a dislocation. It can be used on its own or as part of the larger TRAUMAKIT Mini system.
The kit contains: disposable nitrile gloves in size L (2 pairs in one envelope), a Sam Splint-type splint 46x11 cm (1 pc), MATOPAT UNIVERSAL elastic bandage 10 cm x 5 m (2 pcs), Burncare hydrogel dressing 5 x 5 cm TRAUMAKIT (1 pc), sterile 17-thread dressing gauze 1/2 m2 (2 pcs), a cotton triangular bandage (1 pc) and instructions.
The module is small and light, so it is easy to carry in a bag or backpack. It is suitable for people who are active outdoors, office and technical staff, school and university students, and also for places where the risk of injury is higher: construction sites, sports facilities, tourism and education. TRAUMAKIT Mini fracture first aid kit combines a splint, elastic bandages and a triangular bandage for immobilising a limb in a single pouch.
Why does the TRAUMAKIT Mini fracture first aid kit have a modular design?
The Z module has been prepared for one task: immobilising a limb. It can be used separately or added to the TRAUMAKIT Mini system, and used items can be replaced without investing in a whole new kit. The green colour of the pouch makes the first aid kit easy to spot. TRAUMAKIT Mini fracture first aid kit is available as the Z module and can be supplemented with other elements of the TRAUMAKIT Mini system.
Immobilisation is carried out with a Sam Splint 46x11 cm, two elastic bandages measuring 10 cm x 5 m and a cotton triangular bandage. Two sterile 17-thread dressing gauzes 1/2 m2 allow you to cover a wound, and two pairs of nitrile gloves in size L provide protection when in contact with the casualty. By choosing the TRAUMAKIT Mini fracture first aid kit, you get a kit weighing 0.245 kg that fits in a bag or backpack.
Rules for using the kit when a fracture is suspected
First make sure that the scene is safe for you and the casualty, then call for help on 999 or 112 and put on the gloves. Immobilise the limb in the position in which you found it, using the splint, the elastic bandage and the triangular bandage. If there is a wound, cover it with sterile gauze. In the case of massive bleeding, apply direct pressure. This module does not contain a tourniquet, so separate equipment is needed for life-threatening bleeding from a limb.
Until the emergency services arrive, monitor the casualty and follow the instructions in the kit. How to call for help is described in the article Emergency number 112 and calling for help, and how to assess the casualty's condition in the text Assessing the casualty.
