How to use the kit in practice
Before you start helping, make sure the scene is safe and put on the nitrile gloves from the kit. In the case of a serious injury, or if you are unsure of the casualty's condition, call for help on 999 or 112. The kit is intended for minor accidents, not for controlling massive bleeding.
With a burn, the key is to cool the burned area quickly and protect it with a dressing, and to prevent the casualty from becoming chilled – both modules contain an NRC foil/thermal blanket. If the bleeding is massive, call 999 or 112 and apply direct pressure; the details are described in the article Massive haemorrhage – first aid.
